BH Fitness SK8950 Commercial Recumbent Bike

Commercial Recumbent Bike

Ok for this week I’ve been working on the Commercial Recumbent Bike from BH Fitness. The SK8950 Recumbent Bike to be exact. I like it, again not least because I am again sitting, but I’m sitting in an upright position, with legs forward of the body. I also like the fact that there are hand grips either side of the seat for those moments when I’m really working hard. It happens! I can also adjust the seat very easily. Being on the short side this is a necessity.

My Verdict on the BH Fitness SK8950 Commercial Recumbent Bike:

The Recumbent bike in particular, is an excellent option for those with low back pain as the bike provides added support for the back. Recumbent bikes are also good for those who are new to cycling (Me!). The bottom line: a recumbent bike can provide a cardiovascular workout for users of virtually all ability levels. (again Me!)

Here are some of the pro points for using a Commercial Recumbent Bike:

  • Easier on the lower back (lumbar spine) due to the way you sit on the bike. While an upright bike has you hunched over the handlebars, a recumbent bike encourages better posture.
  • Gentle on all your joints. Your lower back is supported by the bucket seat and your knees and ankles are protected from potential impact injury.
  • Larger Seat on a recumbent bike tends to be one of the most enticing features. (Certainly was for me) An upright bike generally has a smaller seat and can be uncomfortable for many riders. (Do I need to say Razor Blade?)
  • Generally safer because you cannot stand up on the pedals. This eliminates many of the injuries that occur when using an upright bike. (Stand up to cycle? Really?)
  • Low impact the recumbent bike reduces the risk of pain and can build strength. If your back and hips are affected by rheumatoid arthritis, a recumbent bike may be easier to use due to the reclining position with your weight spread over your back and buttocks.

I like this bike, It’s a very nice bit of kit. Very comfortable to use, all the functions are easy and straightforward to use. Short of actually pouring the wine, it does everything one might need it to do for a great work out. For further details on this lovely bit of kit follow this Link

Yet again another 10/10!

Read next week to see how the Upright measures up!
